Apple Charcuterie Board

Are you ready to savor the essence of autumn? Sarah, the Friendly City Foodie, is sharing a scrumptious recipe, featuring our crisp and juicy Golden Delicious apples! Perfect for enhancing your fall gatherings, this apple butter is a delightful addition to any charcuterie board.

Golden Delicious apples, known for their sweet, juicy flavor, are our ideal choice for this recipe. Their mild sweetness pairs beautifully with the warm spices and maple syrup used. The best part is, you don't even have to peel the apples! Their skin contains fiber, vitamins, and loads of flavor, and luckily it softens as the apple cooks.

This Maple Spiced Apple Butter is a cozy fall staple, featuring a mix of brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, ground cloves, and maple syrup for that perfect touch of autumn sweetness. After hours of slow cooking, the result is a delicious spread that's not only perfect on your morning toast, but it also makes a wonderful gift. Pairs it with fresh apples from Shenandoah Valley Orchards, and you have a thoughtful, seasonal present for friends or family.

To highlight this recipe on your handcrafted charcuterie board, consider pairing it with soft cheeses such as brie or blue cheese. Add slices of apples, red pears, and a handful of grapes for a delightful presentation. It's the perfect centerpiece for any fall gathering, offering a beautiful balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Maple Spiced Apple Butter Ingredients:

  • 6 lbs apples, cored and sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Core and slice apples and fill into slow cooker
  2. In a medium bowl stir together brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, cloves, and cardamom until well-combined.
  3. Pour mixture over apples and stir until apples are evenly coated.
  4. Cook on low for 10 hours.
  5. Use an immersion blender, or transfer in batches to a blender, and blend until smooth. If apple butter is not as thick as you’d like, continue cooking, checking and stirring every 15 minutes or so until you reach your desired consistency.
  6. Once cooking is complete, add vanilla extract and stir.
  7. Transfer your finished apple butter to jars or containers of your choice. Store in the refrigerator (up to 2 weeks), freeze or can.
